ICA’s central Food Shelf in minnetonka

ICA's Food Shelf is a choice model food shelf, which means we’re organized much like a grocery store or local market. When you visit ICA for a food appointment, you select the groceries that you and your family enjoy and know how to cook.

Volunteers will help check you in and assist with the shopping process, if you would like. Households are encouraged to utilize our food shelf up to two times per month.

ICA’s Mobile food shelf

ICA's Mobile Food Shelf serves neighbors in several apartment buildings in our primary service area.

Currently, ICA's Mobile Food Shelf delivers to Dow Towers, Hopkins Village, Boulevard Gardens and Excelsior United Methodist Church.

Neighbors who utilize the Mobile Food Shelf are able to receive two total ICA food services per month. You do not need to be pre-approved for ICA’s Mobile Food Shelf program; you are already eligible if you live in the building.

Each mobile food shelf delivery includes meat, fresh vegetables and fruit, bread, nonperishable food, toilet paper. In addition, you may make special requests for both food and non-food items.

With ICA’s home delivery program, we’ll bring a selection of food and household items right to you.

ICA’s Home delivery program

Home delivery is available for neighbors who are unable to come into our central food shelf.

You must be approved for home delivery by one of ICA's relationships managers.

Neighbors are eligible for two home deliveries per calendar month.

School snack bins come with individually packaged snacks so hungry kids can grab and go!

ICA School Snack Bins include individually packaged items, so hungry kids can grab-and-go!

ICA School Snack Bins

ICA works with both Minnetonka and Hopkins School Districts to provide snacks to hungry students.

Based on feedback and assessments from school counselors, nurses and teachers, ICA puts together bins of grab-and-go, healthy snacks from which students can find something to get them through the school day.

Additionally, students are able to drop-in discreetly to grab something to eat and be ready to learn. If you have questions about this program, please contact your school's front office.

ICA Weekend Bags contain approximately 3.5 pounds of nonperishable food for local students.

ICA School Weekend Bags

In addition to snack bins, ICA provides local schools with weekend bags.

This service is intended to provide additional food to students during the weekend when school breakfast and lunches are not available.

The food is packed by ICA volunteers into a plastic bag and is small enough to fit into a backpack. Each bag contains 3.5 pounds of nonperishable food, as well as an educational ICA flyer for families. Our hope is that these bags help our neighbors learn about ICA, so they can utilize our services as needed.

If you have questions about this program, please contact your school's front office.

ICA Kids’ Summer Market

ICA’s Kids' Summer Market provides families with extra food for every school-aged child during the summer months.

Specifically, we set-up a special section inside our food shelf with kid-friendly foods from which you can choose what will best meet the needs of your family.

This section includes items such as soup, oatmeal, mac and cheese, PB&J sandwich fixings, carrots and other snacks.

This program is designed to provide extra food for families with children during the months when kids do not receive breakfast or lunch at school.

It’s one of our favorite days of the year! Every November, we’re busy distributing hundreds of holiday meals to neighbors. The program culminates with our turkey giveaway event, which is scheduled just before Thanksgiving. This year, ICA gave away 840 turkeys!
